What is Rock The Republic?

Rock The Republic (RTR) is NOT a festival; it’s a Spectacle of Sight and Sound! Rock The Republic is a three night event featuring the best up and coming musical acts, spoken word performers, and artists from the Lone Star State. Never before has an event so prominently fused the world of rock & roll with the dynamic slam poetry movement. And unlike many music “festivals” that rush bands on and off of stages, Rock The Republic will feature concert length performances allowing participants to fully enjoy their favorite artists.

What’s a Spectacle?

A mind blowing experience that leaves you asking; what just happened to me? In addition to bringing you amazing musical performances RTR will feature the All-Star Poetry slam with ten of the best performance poets you’ve ever experienced, Stomp The Republic where the best step teams in Texas will take the stage hostage, The RTR Beat Expo where the best producers in the Lone Star State will showcase the sickest tracks this side of the Mason-Dixon and more!

What the Hell are you trying to do?

Merge the world of rock stars and street griots. Spray paint the Texas sky with the sound of indie rock, funk, folk, and the lyrics of poets that have traveled beyond and back to bring us truth scribed on the backs of grocery store reciepts. See RTR is not about any singular style of art or genre of music its everything! There will be something that brings you there and something that blows you away!

What about parking?

All parking is within a 5 minute walk of Downtown Bryan. Really dude I’m not pulling your chain plus if it was just a little longer you could probably use the walk anyway…

What are the venues like?

Downtown Bryan features an eclectic mix of venues. On any given weekend you could stumble upon reggae bands, acoustic guitar sets or a bad ass poet stopping by to steal a heart or two. Revolution Cafe and Bar, The Stafford Main Street, Art 979, Murphy’s Law, and The Stage Center are just some of the venues that will host the best of Texas for three nights. In addition to the usual suspects: bars, restaurants, theaters, we’ve gone out of our way to make sure no space in downtown goes untouched by this event. We’ve booked alley’s, parking lots and antique shops, we are that serious…

Where’s the after party?

RTR will feature an official party each night. However, we know that everyone has their particular tastes. That’s why we’ve asked our friends throughout the Bryan-College Station area to host genre themed parties each night. Party locations and themes will be posted to our website prior to the event, so whether you rock out to grunge, Hip Hop or rhythm and blues there will be something for everyone.

Location

Rock The Republic is centered in Bryan-College Station making it the ideal location for this Texas-sized event. Bryan/College Station is the home of Texas A&M University, the nation’s 5th largest university, with over 48 thousand students; and is less than one hour from Sam Houston State University and Prairie View A&M University. In addition the Bryan/College Station area is within 100 miles of Austin (the live music capital of the world) and Houston, (the nation’s 4th largest city). The Spectacle will feature 10 stages at venues in Downtown Bryan, a cultural district quickly becoming recognized for its food, music and eclectic environment.
